Everything that matters about dynamic QR codes, pricing, analytics and the API — short, honest, no marketing noise.
Dynamic, trackable, branded — and API-ready.
Yes. You set foreground and background colour, embed your logo in the centre, choose module shapes (square, rounded, dot) and apply frame styles with a custom call-to-action. The design system automatically enforces sufficient contrast and quiet-zone protection so your branded codes stay reliably scannable on every device.
URL/link, vCard (digital business card), Wi-Fi network, plain text, email, SMS, phone call, geolocation, calendar event, hosted PDF, hosted landing page (menu, review request, link-in-bio style). Each type comes with a guided form so you don't have to memorise encoding formats. Dynamic redirects work on every URL-based type.
A static QR code encodes the target URL directly — once printed, it cannot be changed. A dynamic QR code encodes a short tracking URL on the QR Vello domain that redirects to your real target. You can change the target any time, pause or rotate the code, and every scan is counted. For anything printed on physical material (business cards, packaging, posters, restaurant menus) dynamic codes are mandatory — they protect you from dead links.
Yes. Business and Enterprise setups can map a custom domain (for example qr.yourbrand.com) so dynamic QR codes route through a branded scan URL instead of the default QR Vello short domain. Full white-label packaging is scoped separately for Enterprise.
QR Vello is a professional QR code platform for businesses. You can create dynamic QR codes whose target URL can be changed any time without reprinting, track scans in real time, design codes with your brand colours and logo, and integrate everything into your stack via REST API. The free plan covers individual usage; paid tiers add team workspaces, bulk generation, advanced analytics and API access.
No. As long as your account is active, dynamic QR codes stay live and redirect to the destination you choose. Many competitors let codes expire when a trial ends or silently downgrade them — QR Vello does not. Free-plan codes work indefinitely; paid features (analytics retention, custom domains, bulk generation) are gated only inside the dashboard, never on the public scan endpoint.
Yes. The free plan covers dynamic QR codes with basic scan tracking, the standard QR Vello short-link domain and core branding (colour and logo). Bulk imports, the API, advanced analytics (geo and device breakdown), team workspaces and custom domains are part of the paid tiers. You can up- and downgrade any time, no annual lock-in.
Every scan is captured with timestamp, country, region, city (when reverse geolocation is possible), device type, browser and referrer. You see real-time totals, time series per code, unique vs. total scans and geographic heatmaps. Data export as CSV or via API. The entire tracking is GDPR-compliant: no third-party cookies, no fingerprinting, no cross-site identifiers. We only process standard server metadata such as User-Agent, referrer and approximate geolocation, with EU-only storage.
Yes. Paid tiers include the documented Public REST API v1 for creating, updating, archiving and querying QR codes. API keys are managed in the dashboard. Webhooks are available as beta, while workspace and team-management APIs stay outside the stable public v1 scope for now.
Yes — paid tiers include a CSV import flow. Upload a spreadsheet with targets, labels and optional branding overrides, and QR Vello creates each code, delivers print-ready assets (PNG, SVG, PDF) and groups them into a campaign you can analyse jointly. Built for product packaging runs, event badges, retail rollouts and direct-mail campaigns.
Free generators usually produce only static codes — if the target URL changes, the printed code is worthless. They don't track scans, don't enforce brand consistency, and codes often expire as soon as the vendor's free tier ends. QR Vello gives you dynamic codes you control, full analytics, an API, team workflows and codes that don't expire. For one-off personal use, free generators are fine. For any business that prints or distributes codes, dynamic + tracked is mandatory.
If your existing codes are dynamic and point to a redirect URL you control, you can re-point them to QR Vello — either by changing the redirect URL or by re-issuing with an identical print look. If they're static (target encoded into the QR itself), they cannot be redirected without reprinting. For larger migrations contact us — we plan a staged rollout that keeps existing print runs alive.
All data lives on EU-based infrastructure. QR Vello is GDPR-compliant by design: no third-party tracking cookies on scan endpoints, IP addresses are truncated before storage where possible, scan logs are retention-capped per tier, and a DPA is available for business customers on request. The legal entity is based in Mainz, Germany.
